CELEBRATING VALARIE PETTIFORD

Valarie Pettiford, born July 8, 1960, is a triple-threat talent in Broadway, film, and television. Trained as a dancer and lauded for her powerhouse performances, she is especially beloved for her role as Big Dee Dee on Half & Half. Her theatrical roots include a Tony-nominated role in Fosse, showcasing her enduring brilliance on stage and screen. Happy 65th Birthday, Valarie Pettiford.


REMEMBERING NAYA RIVERA

Born January 12, 1987, and passed on July 8, 2020, Naya Rivera made an indelible mark through her role as Santana Lopez on Glee. Her vocal performances, bold storylines, and on-screen charisma earned her numerous accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and Grammy nominations. She once said, “Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”


CELEBRATING NICCI GILBERT

Nicci Gilbert, born July 8, 1970, is the soulful lead vocalist of the R&B group Brownstone, best known for their Grammy-nominated hit “If You Love Me.” Beyond music, she’s a creator, producer, and advocate for women in entertainment. Her voice and vision continue to influence the culture.

CELEBRATING FAYE WATTLETON

Born July 8, 1943, Faye Wattleton made history as the first Black — and youngest — president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Her tenure focused on healthcare access, education, and equity. A lifelong advocate for reproductive rights and women’s leadership, she continues to inspire generations of changemakers.
Happy 82nd Birthday, Faye Wattleton.
