
Dr. Gladys West, the mathematician whose work helped make GPS technology possible, has passed away at the age of 95.
Dr. West spent many years working with advanced math and satellite data that improved how locations are measured around the world. Her work played an important role in the systems that help people navigate today from phones and maps to travel and transportation.
She received many honors throughout her life, including induction into the Air Force Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame, recognizing the lasting impact of her work.
