The story of one courtroom, and three accomplished women.

Angel Rich, 39, is an accomplished fintech entrepreneur, speaker and the author of History of the Black Dollar and the creator of tech tools and apps that helped communities understand credit and manage finances.
Angel Rich was the first Black American woman to establish an institutional partnership with one of the three major credit bureaus.
She is also the founder of Black Tech Matters and Black Women Fintech. Her work earned national partnerships, awards, and a platform to educate people about financial literacy.
In 2018, the United Nations recognized her as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the African Diaspora, and in 2023, she received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the Biden Administration. As of 2022, her estimated net worth was $50 million. Angel has also been recognized on “40 Under 40” lists and other professional honors.
In 2023, Angel was involved in a car accident that tragically took the life of Quinton Francis Jr., age 64. The accident led to a trial.

State’s Attorney Tara H. Jackson, the prosecuting attorney, has spent more than two decades in law and public service. She has served as Deputy County Attorney, Chief Administrative Officer, and Acting County Executive for Prince George’s County.

Judge Krystal Quinn Alves presided over the case and has decades of legal experience. She has served as a Maryland Circuit Court judge since 2011 and previously worked as an assistant state’s attorney, associate county attorney, and in private practice.
On January 20, 2026, Angel Rich was sentenced to ten years in prison following her conviction for vehicular manslaughter.
This is a story not of celebration, nor of condemnation, but of responsibility, authority, and consequences.
